The road so far...

Hi there! Yep that's me in the picture.

I’m Bex. I'm a Bi, neurodivergent , dynamically disabled (I have Crohn's and Hypermobility Ehler Danlos Syndrome or hEDS), mother, and partner and I own a mobile hair salon.

I drive to client’s homes to do everything you’d expect a salon to do, just in the comfort of your own home.

I found that I can give gender fluidity and affirmation in hair, in a mobile setting, I understand the anxiety enveloped in going out and the many struggles of being disabled, including finding a mobile barber here.

So I'm here for you!

I qualified when I was 19 years old, and have been doing hair since 2009.

I'm also insured!

"psst... being self employed, fully insured with  public liability, and having proof of qualifications is how you know us mobile hairdressers are the real deal"

I started my hair journey In Somerset when I was only 10 years old by cutting my mothers hair and once a babysitters hair. Even though I was very young and not at all trained, I loved doing it and they liked what I had done for them. That was where I got the passion for hair and stated that "...this would be my career..." so much so that I based my GCSE's around the career and did my work placement in a salon.

Topknot’s in Heathfield was the salon I got my start in life as a stylist. Trained in a 365 Paul Mitchell salon where I gained a City and Guild’s level 1 and 2 Hairdressing Qualification. Which included basic knowledge with textured hair types such as Afro/Caribbean and Asian.

I then went back to College at 21, to gain a level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing.

I even worked for free in a barbers to gain more skills in clipper knowledge.

Since then I have worked at many salons/barbers. Although I enjoyed my time at these places, I found I loved doing hair in the comfort of clients homes more, because it feels more personal, relaxed and my clients said they felt better looked after. So I decided to completely forget the salons and go it alone as a Mobile Hairstylist.

I couldn’t be happier!

In November 2015 I became Bex's Hair Care a freelance hairstylist.

Then in Nov 2019 I went just mobile in order to provide quality hair care to customers that where unable to travel to a salon, needed the convenience, or just wanted to avoid the salons altogether.

I'm still learning new tricks. I keep my education up by doing courses when I can.

By educating you, you know how to style and look after your hair, and to have the confidence to keep it 'under control'.

I will always talk you through anything you'd like to know about your hair too. I aim to be truthful and fair in all subjects we discuss, like what product or service is best for the style you want for the budget you have.

My prices are a breakdown of time and everything I do/use for each service you book.

In these I include a breakdown of costs; business costs ( like insurance, professional booking system, and card machine fees, etc.), fuel, my wage, personal protective equipment, tools, equipment and products.

I decided to do a length based Price list so that it's fairer and my costs are covered for time and product usage, more hair = more time + product needed to do the job.

I will always do what I can to keep costs down and talk you through them, but I will have to charge for those extras that aren't already included in the predetermined prices, such as extra time/product.

I hope you understand as my prices are set to cover costs to stay open, so they are not negotiable.

Products I use are:

Schwarzkopf - Styling and colouring products

Olapex - Patented Bond Restoring Treatment and protecting products

La Riché, Directions  - Semi-permanent Colour products
